Koren Owens

With a whisk in hand and a soufflé in the oven, Koren Owens decided to bid farewell to her culinary degree and embrace the playful designer simmering under the surface. With beef bourguignon in her rear-view and faux lizard shagreen coffee tables in her future, Koren went back to the drawing board to study all the textures, trims, furniture, and wall coverings her vintage, velvet heart could desire. Fortuitously, the talented Ruthie Sommers of Chapman Radcliff took Koren under her wing and the rest, as they say, is history.

A sampling of Koren’s favorite projects must include a 1920’s Spanish home in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. With a careful eye, a neglected dining room soon became a cream lacquered heaven with vintage mohair chairs and a Maison Jansen bar cart. An empty den turned into a cozy hangout with a velvet sectional, Stejnar chandelier, and carefully curated bookcases. The final result was moody colors, lush textures, and a home where every piece tells a story.

Another favorite is the El Royale, a notable Spanish Renaissance Revival building in Hollywood, where Koren took a tired apartment and turned it into a stunning mix and match of vintage and new. Hermes mohair chairs, a burlwood dining table, and thoughtful details like gilded shadow box trim soon met a Bunny Williams sofa in the master and golden queen bee wallpaper in the kitchen. Koren transformed the apartment into a treasure trove for the eyes.

In Westwood, Koren was approached to design a luxury high-rise condominium. Hand painted Celerie Kemble wallpaper soon adorned the entryway.  Custom étagères, a blush biscuit tufted bed, and reimagined furniture were but a few of the changes she swept in and used to create an oasis in the skies.

Koren Owens...2 cups edgy glam, a tablespoon of refined restraint & a dramatic dollop of rock and roll.
